To answer your question :
1. a booklist of five books is a very clear definition of your taste & reading interest.
This is a mathematical concept : you may compare the idea to a lottery where the probability of getting 6 numbers out of 45 (1 to 8145060) lets you win millions.
the probability of similar booklists (of 5) with millions of books is way bigger than that :)
2. we have been improving on the personalizations, with tags and limiting the comparison to more recent entries only. This will take a while to get into gear, but will make the suggestions even more effective.
