GagaLive - Real time chat room, counter, hosting. This is a nice looking resource. You can add a chat box anywhere that will accept HTML. According to the developer, you can have several versions, all linking to the same chat room. It can also take over 500 users in the same room. Although the features are basic, it's very fast and impressive. Take a look!
Meebo rooms. Meebo is well known for offering funky little gadgets that allow you to chat via IM without having to install anything. They've now gone to the next level and created chat rooms that you can embed onto a page. They're getting a lot of buzz, although I'm not sure why, since plenty of other people are embedding chat rooms such as Gabbly chat for example, though to be fair, Meebo does give you the opportunity of embedding video and so on.
Read more at About meebo rooms. It looks a bit like Gabbly, but is rather more advanced. You can add in video and such like. I'll have to give this a go because it does look fun.
Plugoo. This lets you have a link on your page so that people can chat to you, and when they do, it comes via your IM system.
Link: Geesee.com. This is an expansion of things like Gabbly. Basically you put a chat box on your site/weblog and tag it with things that you're interested in. If other people have also done the same thing it's possible for people to get together across chat boxes to talk about the same things. I've seen it described as IRC for dummies, and I can see where that's coming from. It's not yet ready for prime time and they're still doing private beta testing, but it's worth keeping an eye open for.
