If you're looking for a tool to convert a PDF into something else, then you might want to take a look at PDFAid. It's a good looking, attractive tool with lots of resources available. They say of their product "Watermarking pdf, image to pdf conversion, html to pdf conversion, multiple pdf joiner, pdf splitter (extract pages from pdf), rebrand pdf (change hyperlinks in pdf files), office files to pdf conversion (doc and docx), extract images from pdf documents, vector formats (eps and ps), change pdf to doc, convert pdf files to webpages, extract text from pdf documents and xps to pdf."
I feature these quite often on the blog, and here's a couple of new ones that you might want to take a look at, both from a company called FormSwift. We have one that allows you to edit PDF documents and another to reformat a PDF into a Word document. They're both simple and easy to use.
They say of themselves "In my opinion, our PDF Editor and PDF Converter are more thorough, up to date, and user friendly than any other existing PDF Editor and PDF Converter, not to mention they are both completely free for anyone to use"
Very nice looking little tool here from Investintech. Simple and straightforward - select the file that you want to convert, give them your email address and you're pretty much done. The key points that the company stress are:
- No limits to the size of PDF (scanned or regular) which can be converted.
- Unlimited number of conversion requests per day.
- All pages in the PDF will get converted (not just the first two or three, which is often the case)
- Non-standard documents with tables, symbols, forms, images ... are converted completely accurately.
- The service is completely free – the only “price” is seeing couple of ads and nothing else.
- Privacy is guaranteed. All document traces and emails are automatically deleted after 24h.
There is also a professional version available which you can try free for 7 days. I haven't tried either tool myself - but it does seem to be worth trying. If you do - leave a comment to tell everyone.
There are plenty of image converters out there, but Convert-my-image.com (link) is a really good one, You can take a .jpg and convert it into a PDF file, but also plenty of others, such as JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIF, TIFF, and WMF. You can change the settings to do things such as changing the margins, the orientation of the page, the size of the image and you can also rotate the image angle as well.
I tried it out myself, and it’s lightening fast. The resulting PDF file was then automatically downloaded back onto my computer. I really liked the presentation and quality of the conversion. The Convert-my-image website also has a variety of other tools as well, such as converting a set of images and pictures into PDF as a batch process. You can also convert PDF to JPG online (with no limits on the document size), and you can crop photographs or images online (no need to download or install any software).
I really liked the tool that lets you turn an image into an icon of either 16x16 or 32x32 (as well as 10 other formats); that was great fun, and it even worked on a photograph of me, which I thought was very impressive.
All told, it’s a great resource – fast, easy and effective, and best of all, it’s completely free to use.
The screenshot below shows the menu for taking an image and turning it into a variety of other formats, including icons.
They say of themselves: "Our free online PDF Converter provides a quick and easy way to convert PDF to Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, allowing you to create a PDF from literally any file.
Not only is it a completely free file conversion service, it also enables you to avoid the hassle of having to install something on your computer.

With PDFConverter.com It says of itself "Use our online PDF to Powerpoint Converter to create editable Powerpoint slides easily and quickly. Conversion is done online, relieving you of the need to install yet another piece of software on your hard disk. All you need to do is upload your PDF file, provide the email address where we can send you your converted document, and sit back and relax. Maximum file size of an uploaded file is 2MB."
I haven't tried it myself, but it looks neat and tidy - and very easy to use.

If you need to work out what a particular font is, it's worth taking a look at What Font is which will attempt to identify it for you. You can upload an image, or link to a URL. It has a database of over a quarter of a million fonts; many of which are free to download.
