TokBox - Live Video Calling

TokBox. is a free service that lets you talk with your friends over live video. Here's how it works: you sign up and they give you a link. When you want to talk with anyone, just give them the link - they click and you chat. You can put your TokBox on your social network profile, blog, or personal webpage. Anyone can come to your page and see a "Push to Talk" button. They click it and connect to you in real time using live video and audio. This is probably not advisable first thing in the morning before coffee.

Feevy dynamic blogrolling

Feevy. Nice little widgety thing - whack in your favourite blogs, they give you an HTML tag, you add it to your blog and it'll display your friends blogs, and your visitors read their stuff and leave your weblog behind. No wait, that's not quite right is it? :)

WebSlides

WebSlides - Turning bookmarks and feeds into interactive slideshows. Interesting idea from Diigo - take bookmarks, add narration or music and turn it into an embeddable slideshow for your site. Other users can copy and annotate. Keep private or make public. Thanks to Ms Sarah for this one.

Screen2. Surfing Together!

Screen2 Surfing Together!. This is irritating - it's quite useful in that you can share a screen with someone else in a popup box - you don't download any software, you don't need to register, just make up a name, get a friend to do the same, invite friend to follow and they can follow what you do and where you go. So far so good. However, I couldn't see any way of creating a proper chat facility - there is one on the site, but it's very basic and clumsy and doesn't appear to allow private channels. You could use a normal chat system like MSN I suppose, but it would be much better if chat was included on the screen that you're displaying for your friend or that you're following. So - nice idea, almost there, but not quite!

Why do they do that do you suppose? I don't think it's going to increase the numbers who join or use the service, it'll just turn away people like me. On the other hand, given that I had to make several spelling corrections to their blurb that's not very encouraging either. Why should I use this instead of LinkedIn? They're not telling me. FAIL!
