Pure Video - meta/multi video search engine

Link:PureVideo Video and Multimedia Search Engine. This is a beta search engine which is due to try and make a bit of a buzz today, so you may be reading a lot about it. Concept is obvious - type in a search term and it will search a bunch of resources for you and return matches. It pulls content from YouTube, MySpace, Google Video, MSN and a bunch of others. Their hype mentions that they access 'billions' of videos. I have to say I find that a doubtful claim, given that they found less than a page of results for 'Confederate' and only 4 pages of results for 'Lost'.

A more pressing problem however is the fact that they don't have much by the way of search options - or indeed ways of re-ranking the results. Particuarly important with a search like 'Tony Blair' which gives me 100 results (100 results? And uh.. billions of videos? Nah...) and of the first 25 only 10 were really on topic, and I had to scroll down to #15 before I got to the first. The best that they can offer is various channels (music, sports, comedy etc) with a listing of top ten videos from various sources, but this is not fantastically helpful. More work needed I think!
