Internet Resources Newsletter: Issue 153. This is now available.
Thanks to everyone who has been kind and thoughtful enough to contact us, or send Jill a card, or leave a comment (I didn't publish the comments, but I've read every one and they really help). Jill's operation is set for August 2nd, after which we'll know more about exactly what the situation is. At the moment it's just a question of sitting around in Hell's waiting room really. I'll try and post work related stuff, just to keep my mind on other things, but it's really hard right now. Once again, thank you all so much... it really helps to know that there are people out there who do actually care.
As you'll have gathered from my last few posts - things are not going so well. We've had it confirmed today that my wife Jill has got advanced bowel cancer. She's going to have surgery in a couple of weeks, and chemo as well. There are still a lot of imponderables, so we don't know what the situation is, but of course are being as positive as we can be.
Which is where you come in. Jill really likes getting cards - nice bright cheerful cards. If you'd like to help, it would be a real boost if could send her something... not specifically 'get well', but that or any other positive thoughts. (I'm NOT looking for hundreds or thousands of cards, so please don't round robin this - just to know that people are thinking of her would be a real help.) If you have my address, just send something, if you don't, email me at philipbradley at the gmail dot com address and I'll send it to you. If not a card, a postcard would do. Or if you don't have time a comment or an email to me and I'll pass it on. Or just some positive thoughts in our direction would also be welcome.
Thanks.
Europeans embrace Firefox in record numbers. The UK still lags behind though. In the UK there's an 18.7% take up, while in Germany it's at 38%, Slovakia 40%, with overall growth at 27.8%, up from 20% in Jan 06.
Thanks to everyone who has emailed or left comments regarding my situation at the moment; it's actually tremendously helpful to know that there are people out there who care enough to write. Nothing is yet resolved; we're in a waiting situation at the moment. Consequently I still won't be around too much, but I'll try and keep an eye on interesting things and will blog them as much as I'm able.
Due to family health related issues I'm afraid that I'm not going to be around much for some time. I'll try and get back here when I can.
Google Easter Eggs Video. This is quite fun - lots of different things that you can do with Google - for most of these to work you need to hit 'I'm feeling lucky' rather than the straightforward search.

MIT Libraries are using del.icio.us to update their virtual reference site.
The link takes you to their blog, and you can see the results at the Virtual Reference Collection page.
Avirtual office for CILIP (the Chartered
Institute of Library and Information Professionals) will open at 12.00pm
on the 19 July in Second Life. I don't know where yet, so watch this space.
