    Google Health launches

Google Health has finally launched. You can create your health profile with information on your drugs, conditions, allergies, test results, immunisations and so on. You can import your medical records as well. If you're in the US obviously. I don't think even Google would be able to do much with the NHS system.

Google says that they are very concerned about privacy, so they're putting this data onto even safer servers than usual. They're not adding adverts in, and they want this to be an example of added value to users. This all sounds sensible until you realise of course that you log into your health records with the same password that you now have to use with all the other Google stuff you've got. And if you're at a cybercafe, or using a public account somewhere it becomes even more important to remember to log out of everything. If it was me, there's a)no way that I'd use it and b)if I did, I'd create a new account with a new password.

I'll be really interested to see if this takes off, because it will be a real test to see the extent to which the American public do actually trust Google.

It looks very interesting, but I wouldn't feel secure adding my personal health details and records to Google. I know people who have had their GMail accounts hacked...

...but saying that, I don't trust the NHS not to leak my med records either, but there's nothing I can do about that...

It looks promising. Google really wants to dominate everything I can say. Like David, this is something that I don't think I'll use. I might try it out but I'll have to create a new account.
