I do wish "they" wouldn't lump fantasy in with SF all the time. SF is based on the science of the possible, fantasy is supernatural. And if you haven't yet visited the SF exhibition at the British Library the you really should. There's some unexpected items on show including a larger than life-size police phone box / Tardis. I went the second time with a young German friend who was surprised to learn that box phone boxes were REAL.
Not sure that Dr Who fits into "what is possible" but ...
