Why would anyone want to create a 6 second movie? How much can you do even in 6 seconds? I expect that's what a lot of people said about 140 characters when Twitter came along. Vine is a tool that works on your iPhone or iPad (other smartphones will be along shortly) that allows you to take very quick movies. You can either take an entire 6 second burst in one go, or break it down into segments, which then loops. You can see my first quick Vine movie of the back and front views of my house. It's a nifty little tool, but I'm not entirely sure what it's going to be good for, but doubtless it'll be good for something.
It's very easy to use - it only records when you have your finger on the screen, and it uploads to their site lightening fast. I'm not sure that the sound quality is great - my voice is quite muffled, but that might just be the way I'm holding the phone or my other settings. It's also worth pointing out that everything that is uploaded HAS to be uploaded to the public Vine servers first, and then across to Facebook or Twitter - though you have the choice here of Facebook or Twitter or both or neither. So no posting naughties!
