Ditto - clipboard manager

I've been looking around for a good clipboard manager, and have found a nice one in the name of Ditto.  They say of themselves "Ditto is an extension to the standard windows clipboard. It saves each item placed on the clipboard allowing you access to any of those items at a later time. Ditto allows you to save any type of information that can be put on the clipboard, text, images, html, custom formats, ....." It was really quick and easy to install, and I can simply Control C to copy and then hotkey to pull up the dialogue box. 

You can also search for items that you've previously clipped, and it's also possible to share across the cloud from computer to computer. Nice and simple, and it gets the job done. 

Share files by location

Need to share files with people who are physically close to you and want a simple way to do it? Try Quack Space. All that you do is visit the site and let it know where you are located. Then upload the file(s) that you want to share. Tell everyone else to go to the site (no specific URL is required!) and let Quack Space know where they are. Then they will magically see the file(s) and can download them. I tried this with Firefox and Chrome and it worked fine. You can then delete the file(s) once you're done.

There are obviously drawbacks - don't upload anything sensitive since *anyone* could see the file(s) and download them - there are no restrictions at all. If two different people were using the product at the same time in the same location it might cause confusion. However, otherwise, it's a great way to share notes, presentations etc. without any problem at all. 

Filemail - Send large files

Filemail.com - Send large files - fast, easy & secure This looks to be another good tool to send large files to contacts - up to 30GB in fact, which is a hugely generous amount. It has unlimited downloads, but the file is deleted after a week. No registration required.

Dropsend

Need to send large files? Try Dropsend and let it do the work for you. Nothing to download, install or register. Simply upload the file, tell Dropsend who it's for, and they do the rest, by sending them an email. You can send files of up to 4GB in size, which is very impressive.

Copy

Looking for an alternative to DropBox? You might want to take a look at Copy in that case. Start off with 5GB of space, upped to 7GB if you tweet nice things. They say "Sharing large photo albums is as easy as sending a text file. And you control if people can sync your content to their computer or just view it online. You can share members-only links to your content so prying eyes can't cheat their way into your stuff. And we validate every attempt to access it."

I've taken a quick look at it, and it looks fine - works from the browser window and you can just click and drag the stuff that you want to share. Nothing to download either, which is excellent if you have super paranoid techie folks, although there is an app you can download. If you want to try it out, here's my invitation to you. (If you complete the invitation and install the app apparently you get an extra 5GB)

Sign, edit, and fax documents online

HelloFax is an interesting little tool, which works with Google Drive. If you still fax stuff to people (if you're wondering what 'fax' means, please ask someone rather older than you) then you might want to give this a go, as it will fax directly for you. Alternatively, and this is the thing that I find particularly interesting with it, is that you can automatically sign PDF forms with it. Upload a copy of your signature (or write it on the screen), save it and you're done. I've tried it and it works very easily and simply.

WeTransfer

WeTransfer Single or multiple files up to 2GB, enter your email address and that of the person you want to receive the file (you can email up to 20 people), include a  message if you like, and hit “Transfer”. The other person will receive an email with a download button, and you will receive a confirmation that the file was sent. What’s more, you will receive a follow-up email when the other person successfully downloads the file. No usernames or passwords to remember, and the files stay available for two weeks. What more could you ask for?
