Once you start to look around for software, it all comes tumbling out. I just wrote about
Screencrab and I find a bunch of others. You have
ScreenHunter Free, which is quite complex, with lots of functionality, including the ability to capture a long page, and you can add a variety of different effects. Most of the funky stuff you have to pay for however, and the Pro version will set you back about $30. Another priced product is
Gadwin Print Screen, which is $5 cheaper. I liked the fact that it was very easy to simply add in buttons and bubbles to point at various aspects of a screen. If you're after free though, try
Greenshot. You can quickly create screenshots of a selected region, window
or fullscreen; you can even capture complete (scrolling) web pages from
Internet Explorer, annotate, highlight or obfuscate parts of the screenshot.
