There's been lots of rumour and gossip about Google's new interface. The link goes to arstechnica which has a screenshot of the new version, and details of how you can see it yourself, though I have to say it didn't work for me. If you can't see it yourself, there's a screenshot. If you don't want to click the link, the screenshot shows that Google has moved the search tabs from above the search box to the left hand side of the screen. I do hope that they've done more than just that though; it's not a new move, since a bunch of other search engines already very cleverly utilise the left hand side of the screen (such as Exalead for example). It is however a sensible move - lots of research shows that people do automatically look at the left hand side of the screen, and it leaves Google to move ads further up the page. I suppose we shall see what we shall see!
