The folk over at SEOmoz have done a little award ceremony for Web 2.0 applications. Some interesting results, some obvious ones and some that make you go 'huh?'
There are about 30 categories, but I'm just going to highlight ones that particularly interest me.
Blog Guides
1. Technorati
2. Blogniscient
3. Bloglines
Yes, I can go with Technorati, I use it every day, though not as much as Bloglines. Not really heard of #2 there though.
Bookmarking
1. Blummy
2. Furl
3. Spurl
Blummy is a collection of bookmarklets in an easy to use pulldown/popup kinda way. It does the job, but my main problem with it is that it just looks downright ugly! I'd have gone with Furl myself, and as for #3 - they were a late comer and I think it's sad that they appeared to need to look like Furl as much as possible.
Music
1. last.fm
2. musicstrands
3. upto11
I'll go with last.fm - but I've not come across the other two, though to be fair, I don't do much on the music side. I'm slightly surprised that Pandora wasn't higher though.
Photos and digital images
1. Flickr
2. Slide
3. zoto
No big surprises there.
Social Tagging
1. Stumbleupon
2. blinklist
3. del.icio.us
Slightly surprised that del.icio.us wasn't the run away winner there. I'm aware of the other two, but there appear to be many more utilities that use del.icio.us than the other two.
Start Pages
1. Pageflakes
2. Google
3. Windows Live
Way to go Pageflakes! Quite what the other two are doing there though, I have *no* idea. They're not even close, IMO.
Well, that's a small selection of results, but there are plenty of others to view.
