GoshMe

Link: GoshMe - The Web Search Assistant. I *like* this. One of the questions that I'm often asked on my courses is 'which search engine should I use' and that's fine for general searches, but once you get into anything slightly esoteric it becomes a much harder question to answer. The GoshMe screen provides you with a number of major headings, such as audio, health, law, reference, sports and so on - 17 in all. Simply click on the most appropriate subject area, then type in the query that you've got. GoshMe then toddles off, looking at results from different search engines (over 1,000), and then displays what it thinks are the best engines to actually run the query. The results page is split into 3 tabs - specialized, directories and general. If you're having trouble tracking something down, I'd certainly suggest giving this one a go.
