Danny Sullivan is leaving Search Engine Watch. In an Internet world where everyone has a voice, and even more people have an opinion it's extraordinarily difficult to sort out who you can trust, and who is just spinning nonsense. Luckily for those of us who work in the field of search engines this has never been a particular problem, because we've got Danny. I've known him, and of him, ever since he started working with search engines because he's knowledgable, informative, generous and warmhearted.
Two of the reasons that I started to blog at Search Engine Watch was that firstly Danny asked me if I would, and secondly that I wanted to have the opportunity of working closer with him, so it's a shame that the latter will be for such a short period of time.
It's upsetting, but equally in many ways it's no big deal at all. It's not as if we're not going to see him around, and I can't honestly imagine the Internet without his incisive comments. It's just going to be a question of seeing where Danny goes, and what he sets himself up to do, and keeping tabs on him that way. So it's really not goodbye at all. Danny - you're a great guy and you'll be very, VERY missed.
