I've got lots of different configurations on my various machines to do different things for me. One of these configurations is IE6 with the MSN toolbar. Popped in to use IE today for some searching, went to Google, and up pops this 'Put a Google search box in your browser' with an invitation to download the Google Toolbar.
Now, I already have the Google Toolbar, and very nice it is too. However, I don't want it everywhere, and I'll thank Google to keep their paws OFF my screen until and when I decide otherwise. It's bl**dy annoying, and I don't like it. Sure, I can close the box and not see it again, but that's hardly the point. I don't wander across to Google and plonk myself down and say 'display my website everytime someone does a search' and I see no reason why Google should think it has the right to do that to me.
Just another example of the high handed 'We're right and you're just a user' approach that Google appears to be taking more and more often these days and I'm getting fed up with it.
Perhaps it is time to start using MSN as the search engine of choice to do the first trawl of the internet. I am using this more frequently and not getting withdrawal symptoms or feel that I am missing too much for these quick sledge hammer type searches
