Pandia has come up with a nice list entitled What we want from Google this Christmas. The things that they've listed include:
- Consistent navigation
- A better 'more' function
- Spam reduction
- Better bookmarking
- Add a proximity operator
- Get out of China.
There's a bunch of others, but from a searching point of view those are the main ones that interested me. I'd also add
- Make your limit by date function work. Even just a little bit.
- Cut the distinction between upper/lower case with operators - Link:www should be the same as link:www but it isn't.
- Stop thinking that the only librarians in the world are based in the US. They're not - there's a bunch of us outside it in other places y'know.
- Stop throwing out new stuff just because you're curious to see if we'll use it.
I could go on, but it's Christmas after all. So, in a festive spirit - many thanks for those things that DO work!
