Want to know what's happening in the world? Of course you do, but all too often that's not going to be on the BBC, CNN or ABC websites because they're not interested in what you're interested in. So instead you go to Twitter, blog search engines and so on. Very Recent is a search engine that hunts through those resources, as well as FriendFeed, Flickr, YouTube and digg to pull out information based on what you're looking for.
Great idea in theory, and to an extent in practice. However, the display of content is what lets this current affairs engine down so badly. Content is centred on the page, making it impossible to quickly scan, each line or result is in very small font size and background colour alternates between white and a blue/grey colour. I found it virtually unusable because of this, which is a real shame. Try it out though - maybe your eyes are better than mine!

Hello Phil,
Thanks very much for mentioning Very Recent.
I respect your criticism regarding the site's poor graphics and promise to make everything more readable - especially since you're not the first person to mention this.
Please be aware - Very Recent is a one-man project created by a programmer who has little talent for graphic design.
Please do me a favor and visit the site again in one week. I hope you'll see an improvement.
Yours,
Tom Churm

Hi Phil,
Great suggestions regarding the layout and graphics, which admittedly are not my strong point.
So I just changed the CSS for the site and hopefully the text is now easier for everyone to read.
Thanks a lot for mentioning Very Recent ! Have a great day.
Yours,
Tom Churm
