Text A Librarian This is a service that allows you to do something, only I'm not quite sure what. The title implies that you can contact a librarian. The blurb says it "is an easy to use text messaging solution that enables students/members and reference desk librarians to communicate through online "Questionariums.""
And we're expected to purchase or subscribe to this service. Only I
can't tell you how much because I have to give them my details and they
will contact me. And I have to be based in the US of course. Delving deeper into the site some libraries (US
Universities) are using this service, but the whole thing looks very
convoluted. Oh yes - the very best bit is the logo:
Not only are the librarians female, with glasses and buns but .... they're green. Words fail me.
Haha, thanks for the post, Phil. No disrespect intended on the glasses (or the green-ness), we're getting a great response from people who have initiated contact.
Text A Librarian, in simple words, is a mobile reference services technology. It allows libraries to set up SMS question and answer systems without the high cost/difficulty of building an in-house solution.
I hope that clears things up for you and if you have any other questions for us, please don't hesitate to ask.
Thanks again for the post.
Sincerely,
Noel
