I don't as a rule think much of people search engines, but I think I'm about to make an exception for Lookup, which is actually an app, rather than a website resource. It says of itself "Lookup, powered by TalentBin's people search engine, pulls together publicly available online information into a single, easy to navigate social profile, featuring social network profiles (like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, and more), professional and social interests, and resume and schooling information."
It does exactly that. I ran a search for my name, and it found me instantly. It then provided me with a Headline summary pulled from Twitter, with tabs on Interests, Profiles and Resume. Most of these it was able to pull from postings that I've made on Google+ and Twitter, but it also pulled in links to my material on LiveJournal, Flickr photographs, Blogger, YouTube, Picasa and Quora. Everything that it found was entirely accurate and it gave the most complete overview of me that I've seen anywhere, from any app. The only error was that it didn't pick up my LinkedIn material, but that's probably because there's a confusion between Phil and Philip. To be critical, it didn't pick up me when I searched on my full name, but I don't use that in many places, so that's not a real surprise. I looked for several other professional colleagues, both in the UK and abroad, and it found all of them. I also tried various friends and relations, and it came out on tops there as well.
I particularly liked the fact that it sits neatly on the iPhone, and they make the point that you can do some really good last minute research before going into a meeting with someone. I can see how this could be a really useful tool in a large number of ways. It's just a shame that it's device specific, and it's not available as a website.
I have used this and find really amazing!
