It really makes me wonder if some companies ever learn *anything* about *anything*. Here's the latest social media disaster, and this time it's from a company called Epicurious and you can find them on Twitter. Only you won't find their recent tweets, because they've all been removed. But how is this for a sample: "Boston our hearts are with you. Here's a bowl of breakfast energy we could all use to start today:" Here's a screenshot that I blagged:
Needless to say, the response on Twitter has been fast and unforgiving:
Just another perfect example of what not to do on social media.
Speechless.

It looks to me like these were scheduled tweets to coincide with the marathon, and they simply did not delete them in time. Or am I having too much faith in humanity?
In any case, even with the above scenario: that is what social media managers are for .

I was just about to comment 'speechless' too. So crass, you'd think it could only happen if the account had been hijacked. But apparently no.

I feel so bad for them.. We wrote an article and gave out advice to other social media managers so that wouldn't happen to them. I believe these were auto scheduled.

Thanks for that Elizabeth. I find the tweet 'Boston our hearts are with you' is a clear indication that these were not auto scheduled. It would be a very odd phrase to use if it was auto.
