It really does raise some interesting questions for librarians (of all stripes). Presumably a first step would be the Freedom of Information request? Or would they be able to bypass this? As a public librarian, some years ago, I was asked by the police to provide information to find a missing person, who had been in the library and used our computers literally an hour before disappearing (never found). I passed this up the food chain at the time, but still, a librarian had to make the call on this...
